Scholarships

The National Conference on Student Life (NCSL) and its sponsors recognize that the cost of attending an NCSL conference may be an obstacle for some. In order to open this potentially life-changing event to as many students as possible, NCSL makes several scholarships available.
Scholarship applications are now open for the 2024 conference.

Conference Registration and Travel Scholarship (3 available)

Registration fee for the conference and $500 travel stipend. Incidental costs are the responsibility of the attendee.

Scholarship FAQs

How do I apply?

Fill out the application and click the SAVE button to submit your applications.

How are the recipients selected?

An anonymous committee formed by NCSL awards the limited scholarships based on this criteria:

    • The student’s demonstrated interest in improving leadership skills
    • The student’s initiative in the past in seeking leadership positions
    • Any other skills which may set the student apart from other candidates

When are scholarship winners notified?

To allow for making plans, scholarships are selected approximately 60 days before the start of the conference. All applicants, whether winning a scholarship or not, are notified at that time.

If I am awarded a scholarship, what do I need to do?

When you are notified of your award, you will be given full details about getting registered at the conference.

Who sponsors the scholarships?

Companies, associations, institutions can all be scholarship sponsors. Generally, the sponsors remain anonymous throughout the selection process. Because sponsoring a scholarship carries significant PR and promotional value they are generally tax deductible to the sponsor as an advertising/membership expense, rather than a charitable deduction.

Does a scholarship recipient have any special obligations while at the conference?

There are no special obligations for scholarship winners. Enjoy the conference and make the most of this opportunity.

If I am not selected for a particular conference, is my application automatically considered for the next conference?

No, if you wish to be considered for the next conference you should resubmit your application.

Is there a limit to the number of scholarships one individual or one college may receive?

Yes, because of supply and demand, an individual who has received a scholarship is not eligible for another. Also, only one scholarship per college per conference is allowed.

My company/organization may be interested in sponsoring a scholarship. Who should I contact?

Contact Bonny Wolter for full information.
