Robert Talbert

Robert Talbert is an associate professor in the Mathematics Department at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Prior to coming to GVSU, he was a faculty at Bethel College (Indiana) and Franklin College. He is an active speaker and consultant in the areas of flipped learning, teaching with technology, self-regulated learning, and others. Talbert is a pioneer in the use of flipped learning in university-level courses in mathematics and computer science and shares his innovative teaching ideas with an international audience through his blog, Casting Out Nines, hosted by the Chronicle of Higher Education. He is a proud recipient of the B.F. Bryant Prize for Excellence in Teaching and the Pew Teaching with Technology Award from Grand Valley State University in 2015. His latest book, Flipped Learning: A Guide for Higher Education Faculty was published by Stylus Publications in 2017.

Talbert holds a PhD in mathematics from Vanderbilt University, where he was a Master Teaching Fellow at University's Center for Teaching.
