James May
James S. May is the faculty fellow for innovation and technology at Valencia College where he has pioneered the use of cell phones and computer-assisted learning in his English as a Second Language classes. He is also on the Sunshine State TESOL board, Floridas affiliate to TESOL International. May got his start in the field of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) in the mid '90s as a linguist for the U.S. Army and has been working in digitally hybrid worlds ever since. He has been named Professor of the Year in the state of Florida twice, first by the Association of Florida Colleges in 2010 and then again by the Carnegie Foundation in 2011. He was also was named one of the Nations Top 40 Innovators in Education by the Center for Digital Education in 2013.
May earned his EdD in second language acquisition and MS in curriculum and instruction, both from University of Florida.
