Lisa Brinn, PhD

Dr. Lisa Brinn is a teaching professor at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, where she instructs pre-health students in human anatomy and human physiology. A few years ago, she transformed her teaching approach by implementing a flipped classroom model. Students watch pre-recorded PowerPoint presentations before class, allowing in-class time to be dedicated to engaging in critical thinking activities that deepen their understanding of the material. More recently, she has successfully transitioned to teaching fully online anatomy and physiology courses, maintaining an active learning environment even in asynchronous settings. Prior to her current role, Dr. Brinn taught at Texas Tech School of Pharmacy, where she delivered a variety of courses including human anatomy, physiology, compounding laboratory, principles of disease, PBL case studies, and neuroanatomy. She holds a master's and Ph.D. from São Paulo, Brazil, where her research focused on brain development, specifically how neurons migrate to their final destinations during development. Additionally, she earned a BA in biology with a minor in education.
